Famiglia milanese della quale le prime notizie risalgono al secolo XII. Fu detta anticamente dell'Osa, dell'Ossa, degli Osii (in latino del Oxa, de Oxiis). La genealogia documentata non è anteriore al secolo XIV, però si ritiene appartengono a questa famiglia un Oxio che morì combattendo alla battaglia di Legnano; Alberto, che fu podestà di Padova nel 1175 e di Bergamo nel 1185; Guglielmo che fu Rettore della Lega Lombarda della città di Milano nel 1178, podestà di Bologna nel 1188, di Padova nel 1189-1191 e di Verona nel 1193 nella quale ultima città pare lasciasse discendenza; Manfredo che fu dei cinque podestà di Milano eletti nel 1203; Guidotto che fu podestà di Lodi nel 1252; Arderico che nel 1150 fu Console di Milano, carica che fu coperta anche da Guglielmo nel 1170; Oberto nel 1198, Guidotto nel 1205, Albergato nel 1227, Ambrogio nel 1269 e Pietro nel 1310.
