Ancient and notable European family, of clear and ancestral virtue, spread over the centuries in various regions of Europe and the world. According to what is handed down to us, this family descends from the union of two noble families of the Netherlands: the Water and the Kemper. The former originated from Gelderland, a province located in the central-eastern part of the Netherlands, and its members have often distinguished themselves for military skills and the occupation of important public offices. The second, the Kemper, come from Gouda, a city located in the province of South Holland. Landowners, the Kemper have often devoted themselves to legal professions, such as lawyers and notaries.
