Antica famiglia originaria dalla Carinzia, che aveva in quelle regioni vaste proprietà e boschi, che in gran parte tuttora conservate dell'anno a Venezia, sin da secolo XVI. Ricchissima di censo fece una cospicua offerta all'Erario Veneto e così fu aggregata al patriziato nel 1646. Il 6 giugno 1639 dall'imperatore Ferdinando III i W. Sommeregg, titolo baronale del S. R. I. sui detti feudi; con Diploma dell'imperatore Leopoldo I del 31 agosto 1672 furono creati conti del S. R. I. col predicato di Orteimburg. Sulla fine del secolo XVIII aggiunsero al proprio il cognome Rezzonico di Rezzonico, nipote di Clemente XIII, eredità che fu condivisa coi Pindemonte. Questa famiglia continuò ad esercitare le funzioni patrizie a Venezia e quelle feudali in Carinzia. Martino, decaduto nel 1672, era maresciallo, cioè capo del Ducato di Carinzia con poteri assoluti e così la famiglia ebbe sempre notevole importanza tanto negli Stati dell'Impero quanto nello
