Si vuole il capostipite della famiglia Wild, anticamente detta anche Wilde per via delle solite cause della pronunzia dialettale e dal modo di interpretare nella scritturazione i cognomi, un Hermann Wilde che viveva in Colonia nel 1172 ed era un valente soldato di ventura. La famiglia von Wildenburg è originaria dell' omonimo stato del sacro romano impero. Si vuole il capostipite sia un Philipp I (m. 1202), suo figlio Philipp II (m. 1269) sposò Irmgard von Brunshorn , il primogenito Friefrich (m. 1277) , suo figlio Johann sposò Irmengard von Ouren ed ebbe 2 figli, Johanna e Philipp IV.
