Deriva da Calorico Sabatini che nel 1180 fu creato conte e cavaliere da Federico Barbarossa. L'Imperatore Federico IV, con diploma 24 Novembre 1494 innalzò Giacomo e Carlo e i loro discendenti in linea primogenita alla dignità di conti del Sacro Romano Impero; concessione che fu poi riconfermata da Massimiliano I nel 1503 e da Ferdinando I nel 1533, e riconosciuta dalla Repubblica Veneta. Fu inoltre ascritta al patriziato romano ed a quello di Bologna, ed ottenne pure il titolo comitale dell'Arciduchessa Isabella-Chiara Duchessa di Mantova e del Monferrato. Fu confermata nell'antica sua nobiltà e nel titolo di conte con sovrane risoluzioni 23 Marzo, 18 Giu., 4 Lug.1819 e 14 Luglio 1820. Motto della famiglia: Accendor non uror. Altro ramo. Da Breganze, castelo del Vicentino, si trapiantarono nel 1540 a Castelfranco. Alessandro provveditore del Comune, quindi capitano di tre bandiere per la Repubblica di Venezia nel 1594.
