Essi appartenevano ad una famiglia di Vicenza, ricca e ornata di uomini illustri per la nobiltà del sangue e per scienza. Nel 1260, così continua una cronaca vicentina, furono Cristoforo e Goffredo, q. Marco Zagoura, i loro maggiori. In seguito esercitarono il notariato, ottennero la cittadinanza di Vicenza nel 1660, ed entrarono in quel consiglio nobile nell'anno 1732. Ortensio di questo ramo, per il suo valore nelle scienze matematiche ed idrauliche, venne insignito col titolo di cancelliere e di conte dalla Repubblica Veneta, come venne registrato nei Sopra Feudi nel 1730. Dei Zagoura, dei quali nessuno oggidì è compreso negli elenchi della nobiltà italiana, si hanno memoria a Colabrigo, Piove di Sacco, Verona, Este. A Castelfranco nel secolo XIV erano denominati Zaghi (quindi Zaghis), oriundi di Vedelago, che, si ritiene, sia il luogo di nascita del pittore Giorgione.
