Ancienne et très noble famille sicilienne, originaire de Jordanie, de vertu claire et ancestrale, répartie au cours des siècles dans diverses régions d'Italie et du monde. L'origine de ce patronyme, selon des généalogistes faisant autorité, devrait en revanche être recherchée dans l'ancienne montagne jordanienne Zambut.
