Antica e nobile famiglia, che, nel corso dei secoli, fu detta Zanasi, Zinasi, Zanasio e Ginnasi. Tommaso da Messina, dottissimo nelle buone scienze, dopo molti viaggi fatti per l'Italia, entrato in Cremona, ivi fermossi e nobilmente accasatosi, diede principio alla famiglia. Da Cremona, poi, la famiglia, passò in Imola, e difatto nel 1359 trovavasi in essa città un Nicolò de Zinasiis de Cremona. Da Imola poscia venne in Castel Bolognese fino dall'anno 1400 nella persona di un Giovanni, la cui successione non si mosse dal Castello sino alla morte del Cardinale Domenico. Gli eredi del Porporato furono Matteo ed Achille, de' quali il primo recossi a Roma ed il secondo qui rimasto a quelli di Romagna, divisi in Imola, Castel Bolognese e Faenza. Tra i personaggi di Imola, ricordiamo: Bartolomeo e Ambrosiolo, i quali fecero parte dei cento nobili cremonesi recatisi in Palestina, al seguito di Federico Barbarossa,
