Antica ed assai nobile famiglia veneta, con residenza in Bassano ma oriunda da Pove, ove curava l'estrazione dei marmi, propagatasi, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni d'Italia e d'Europa. L'ascesa della famiglia si deve ad Ambrogio, il quale si distinse particolarmente nelle opere di beneficenza e nelle pubbliche amministrazioni. Nell'anno 1726, la casata risulta compresa nel Catalogo delle famiglie nobili di Bassano, formato ed approvato dal Veneto Senato, proprio nel detto anno. Fu poi, tal famiglia confermata nobile, con Sovrana Risoluzione 21 settembre 1821, in persona di Bernardino, del fu Francesco e della nobile signora Elena Lugo, nato il 10 marzo, 1753, morto il 27 agosto 1824, il quale era ammogliato, in primi voti, con la nobile signora Giovanna Calderi ed in secondi con la signora Maria Vettori. Figlio del secondo letto: Giovanni Francesco, nato il 5 febbraio 1822. Agostino Zanchetta ottenne il riconoscimento di arma di cittadinanza e,
