Nobile e antica casata originaria della Toscana. I suoi membri, in tempi antichi, furono detti Cherichini e Roncognani. Un Zarduccio, di Cherichino, fu priore nel 1387; altri ottennero per sette volte il priorato, e per tre volte il gonfalonierato di giustizia. Hanno avuto un cavaliere di Malta, ed hanno provato il Quarto a S.Stefano. Tra i Zarducci uno fu Secolare, e l'altro canonico della cattedrale. Un Giovanni fu degli otto di balia e dei dieci di libertà. Di questa famiglia non si hanno più aggiornamenti araldici dal 1795. Che i membri della famiglia Zarducci siano noncuranti delle cose volgari, ripromettendosi dalle sole loro energie la dovuta ricompensa, lo provano i documenti fino ad oggi conosciuti come il Dizionario Storico-Blasonico del commendatore G.B. di Crollalanza che ne ha raccolte le tracce lasciate dalla famiglia in quelle città ove ebbe dimora ricoprendo cariche legislative, militari o altro, contribuendo non poco alla riuscita
