Discese da Acone, e si stabilì in Firenze per esercitarvi la mercatura. Tralasciando la favolosa discendenza romana da Giunio Bruto, affermata nella cronaca dello pseudo Malespini, possiamo sicuramente ritenere che i Giugni erano una delle più potenti famiglie di Firenze fino alla seconda metà del sec. XIII. Cambio e Giugno si vedono fra gli ufficiali dell'esercito fiorentino a Montaperti nel 1260; nel 1291 erano ammessi al Priorato nella persona di Ugolino di Zampa e da quel tempo in poi ebbero 50 priori e 18 Gonfalonieri di Giustizia. Le altre cariche che sostennero sono innumerevoli. Nel 1366 troviamo Niccolò d'Ugolino ambasciatore presso varie città d'Italia per la conclusione di una lega contro i Visconti.
