Antica ed illustre stirpe veneta, di chiara ed avita virtù, propagatasi, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni d'Italia e del mondo. Tradizione vuole che essa sia della medesima agnazione della nobile casata veronese Zini, nota ancor prima del XVI secolo e presente nei più importanti Armoriali. Tra le varianti del cognome Zini, infatti, si attestano: De Zinis, Zin, Zinà, Zinara, Zinati, Zinato, Zinelli, Zinello, Zino etc. Occorre notare che non sempre la forma originaria del cognome si manteneva intatta nei secoli con la sua primitiva grafia. Spesso a causa di trascrizioni errate, di trasformazioni dialettali secondo i luoghi ove la stirpe via via si portava, della scrittura incomprensibile degli scrivani etc., si avevano modificazioni della fonetica e della grafia.
