Nel corso del secolo XVI numerose furono le famiglie che per guadagnarsi la vita dalla nativa nella Valle Imagna emigrarono nelle diverse parti d'Italia, fissandosi stabilmente, e dandosi ai commerci e ai mestieri più svariati. Gente accorta e fattiva, non poche di esse riuscirono ad arricchirsi, e ad raggiungere a posizioni elevate, tanto da venir accolte nei consigli nobili e popolari, e da ottenere dai Sovrani, grazie, favori e diplomi nobiliari. A ricordo della loro patria d'origine molte di esse vollero conservare quale proprio cognome il suddetto nomignolo affibbiatogli dalla popolazione che li ospitava, ed assumere quale stemma l'accollo. Una di questa famiglie era capitata verso la metà del cinquecento a Gradisca con un Gio. Antonio, il cui figlio Gio. Andrea ottenne dall'imperatore Carlo la concessione di uno stemma con diploma dato da Graz ai 17 dicembre 1569. Detto stemma venne poi riconosciuto da Ferdinando II
