Família muito antiga e nobre. Nas lembranças de tempos passados, lemos algumas variações do sobrenome Zolato, devido às causas habituais da pronúncia dialetal e à maneira de interpretar sobrenomes nas escrituras. Lembramos de um Giovanni, notário imperial em Ferrara e, em 1368 em Veneza; e em Feltre Cambruzzi lembra Luca Zolato acrescentado àquele nobre Conselho em 1405. Giovanni Francesco di Giuseppe Zolato, notário e cidadão de Feltre deixou seu filho Giovanni em 1413 herdeiro. A efígie do notário foi gravada na Escola da Madonna del Prato, como pode ser lido na história de Feltre da Cambruzzi acima mencionada. Zulato Luigia de Veneza, esposa de Lorenzo Piovenzano, morou nesta cidade em 1582. Esta posposição de algumas letras do sobrenome Zolato também ocorre nas breves notas históricas que são encontradas em torno desta família na província de Rovigo, especialmente no século XVII e, de fato, na lista de notários de Rovigo, lemos:
