Le memorie di questa famiglia ricordano come capo stipite delle due linee, milanese, cioè, e veneto-dalmata, un Tommaso de Fondra che da Sigismondo imperatore con diploma datato a Milano, fu nel 1413 creato barone dell'impero. Si stabilì in Venezia sul principio del secolo XVI, ove un Lorenzo fu dal doge Pasquale Cicogna fatto conte palatino. Il primo di questa casa che si fermasse in Sebenico fu un Ferdinando cancelliere nel 1640. Lorenzo avvocato fiscale fu aggregato al nobile consiglio di Sebenico nel 1696, e nel 1700 creato conte veneto. Ottennero i Fondra la conferma della nobiltà nel Marzo del 1822. Altro ramo. Antica e nobile famiglia originaria di Bergamo. Altra famiglia alzò per arma. Spaccato; nel primo d'azzurro pieno; nel secondo di verde, al cane rampante d'argento, tenente un arco teso colla sua freccia.
