Illustrissimo casato sardo dell'età giudicale di rango principesco, noto anche nelle varianti De Thori, Thuri, Çori e Zorì, di chiara ed avita virtù, propagatasi, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni d'Italia e d'Europa, con maggior insediamenti in Spagna e Francia. L'origine di tal cognome va cercato nell'antico toponimo Thori, Zori o Thuri che corrisponde al centro arborense di Zuri, piccola villa della curatoria di Gulcier. Il cognome vige tuttora con le forme Zori, Zuri nella stessa area arborense e con la variante Dettori in area logudorese. Tra il 1065 e il 1135, troviamo esponenti del casato ai vertici di tutti e quattro i regni sardi. In questo periodo i Thori o Zori espressero ben sei sovrani nei giudicati di Arborea, Gallura e Torres e altrettante regine, due delle quali si unirono con la dinastia dei Lacon-Gunale, che allora regnava nel giudicato di Calari.
