Famiglia Cagliaritana originaria di Alassio le cuinotizie risalgono al secolo XVLL I Borro erano mercanti, alla fine delSeicento un Nicola aveva aperto a Cagliari una tipografia. Raggiunta una discreta posizione economica, nel 1695, ottennero il cavaliere ereditario e la nobilta' con un Giacomo che nel 1698 fu ammesso allo stamento militare nelparlamento Montellano. I suoi figli formarono duediversi ramidella famiglia:da Pietro discesero i cavalieri Borro che si estinsero nel corso del sec. XVIII. Dal dottor Giovanni Battista, le cui condizioni economiche nel 1712 gli consentirono di acquistare il feudo di Marrubiu, discese il ramo feudale. Un suo discendente nel 1754 ebbe il feudo elevato in marchesato con il predicato di S. Carlo. La famiglia si estinse nel sec. XIX e il titolo fu ereditato dai Cugia.
