Eine sehr alte und sehr berühmte venezianische Familie, Zorzi oder Zorzo genannt, zählte seit Beginn des 9. Jahrhunderts zu den bekanntesten Familien Venedigs, deren Mitglieder die angesehensten Richter besetzten. Nach der Überlieferung stammte diese Familie von den alten Herzögen Mährens ab, die 411 im Dienste des Kaisers Honorius nach Italien kamen. Sie würden dann weiter nach Pavia ziehen, wo sie verschiedene Grundstücke erwarben und zur Zeit von Bischof Epifanio und wer den Nachnamen Giorgi oder Giorgio (daher der venezianische Zorzi oder Zorzo) von einem Giorgio, dem Befreier der belagerten Stadt, übernommen hätte. Auf der Flucht vor Attila hätte er 453 die Lagune erreicht und zur Gründung Venedigs beigetragen. Auf jeden Fall waren zwei Familienmitglieder, nämlich Graziano und Giovanni, Dogen von Venedig. Dann gab es eine bedeutende Anzahl dieser berühmten Linie, die sich im Laufe der Zeit in die sechs Zweige Korcula, Zattere, San Provolo, Santa Giustina, Ponte dell'Angelo und Ponte
