La famiglia proviene dall'antico Castellazzo di Carmagnola (Emilia). Colà viveva un Ubertino chiamato anche Cuchardo, nominato in un rogito 6 marzo 1141 del notaio Ulrico, fra i cittadini di quel luogo. Un Asqui e un Giovanni nel 1248 avrebbero giurato fedeltà come vassalli a Guido III, signore di Correggio. Nel 1380, in occasione della demolizione di quel castello, la fam. si trasferì a Correggio. Ivi altro Ubertino fece costruire a sue spese i portici detti di S. Maria, dove per molto tempo rimase lo stemma. Un Costanzo, fu capitano di cavalleria di Alfonso I e di Ercole II, duchi di Ferrara; un altro figlio, Guido, fu al servizio dell'imper. Carlo V come capitano di fanteria nelle guerre di Fiandra, Germania, Italia ed Africa; un Ubertino, fu generale di cavalleria presso Alfonso II d'Este, duca di Ferrara, poscia governatore del Castello di Rossena. Un ramo della famiglia si trasferì a Parma

Inquartato: nel primo d'oro alla banda d'azzurro, caricata di una zucca d'oro, gambuta e fogliata di verde; nel secondo d'azzurro alla testa di mostro marino uscente dal mare fluttuoso e con le fauci aperte, rivolte verso una cometa d'oro, posta nel canton destro del capo, e ondeggiante in banda; terzo d'azzurro al braccio destro vestito di rosso, movente da sinistra , tenente con la mano di carnagione un ramoscello di verde e sormontato da tre gigli d'oro alternato ai quattro denti di un rastrello di rosso; nel quarto troncato d'azzurro e d'argento a tre merli di fortezza al naturale, due caricati il primo in punto ed uno il secondo. Cimiero: Un liocorno d'argento, nascente, tenente con le zampe anteriori lo stelo gigliato.
