Dans un code d'environ 1550 on lit que les Zuliani, "hommes de grande intelligence et amateurs de la patrie", sont d'origine grecque, et furent l'une des premières familles à venir à Venise. Depuis 741, un Zuliani était le maître d'une dignité chevaleresque vénitienne. Ils ont soutenu les raisons du gouvernement, alors en formation, avec un amour profond dans les Conseils du Tribunal. En 1120, le noble Marco donna ses biens au légat du pape à Venise pour ériger l'église et le monastère de la Charité en pierre, promettant d'offrir chaque année une pièce d'or appelée Byzance. Ils furent alors, avec leurs descendants, inclus dans le Maggior Consiglio lors du lock-out de 1297. Ils avaient aussi un palais à S.
