Antica famiglia discesa da Firenze dal contado di Legnaia o di Signa. Ebbero vari priori a cominciare da Giuntino, di Guido, di Giuntino, nato il 7 gennaio 1392 e che risiedette nella signoria nel 1432. Alcuno ritenne che appartenesse a questa famiglia anche quel Francesco che fu matematico famoso e astrologo della Regina Caterina dei Medici. Decaduti dal loro florido stato durante il sec. XVI, si rifugiarono a Maria presso Lucca, donde soltanto nella seconda metà del settecento Domenico, di Jacopo, ritornò in Firenze. Il figlio di questo, Michele, banchiere e possessore di un ragguardevole patrimonio ottenne la reintegrazione all'avita Nobiltà Fiorentina, con Diploma de' 31 ottobre 1819. La famiglia è iscritta nel nuovo Elenco Ufficiale Italiano col titolo di nobile di Firenze, in persona di Giuseppe, di Guido, di Michele; della di lui sorella Emilia e dei figli del medesimo: Maria, Carolina, Guido e Maria Luisa; e di
