E' insussistente che i membri della famiglia del Tirolo provenissero dalla famiglia di Firenze, alla quale famiglia aveva appartenuto, il famoso Maresciallo d'Ancre. Si affermò che Antonio fosse venuto a piantare il suo ramo in Tirolo, mentre da documenti risulta che egli e suo fratello Gerardo erano figli del notaio Enrico di Casez. Essi possedevano una torre presso Malgolo, che avevano comperato dal notaio Nicolò di Fondo.
