Antichissima e nobilissima famiglia di Osimo, le cui notizie risalgono al sec. XIII. Riconosce quale suo capostipite un Fiorenzo di Lenzio vivente nel 1200 circa. Dette alla patria membri che si resero illustri nelle lettere, nelle armi e nelle carriera ecclesiastica, ricoprendo anche tutte le maggiori cariche civiche. Giovanni che dal 1429 al 1441 fu più volte Gonfaloniere e Priore. Giovanni dal 1486 al 1510 ricoprì le cariche di Podestà di Ascoli e Fabriano; Alessandro VI gli da un importante incarico; e Osimo lo invia suo ambasciatore nel 1503 e 1510 a Giulio II. Decio dal 1552 al 1586 podestà di Spoleto; luogotenente criminale a Perugia e per tutta l'Umbria; governatore di Bevagna; podestà di Città di Castello. Capitano Giovanni seniore, nel 1566 al servizio di Pio V; e nel 1570 castellano della Rocca di Rimini. Ha quindi l'incarico di riformare le milizie pontificie. Comandante le milizie di Trevi,
