Antichissima e nobile famiglia di Fossombrone, le cui memorie risalgono al 1290 nel quale anno cedette i suoi diritti sulla contea di Torricella al municipio di Cagli. Però Fico, non acconsentì a tale cessione, e mosse guerre ai cagliesi, i quali con l'aiuto dei perugini lo vinsero e lo privarono di tutti i beni. Da Bartolomeo, di Cola, di Niccolò, di Nicola, di Fico, ne vennero due figli: Andrea che fu prelato e vicario generale del patriarca di Aquileia; e Luigi, che morì nel 1513. Questi ricuperò il castello di Torricella con l'aiuto del fratello. e si stabilì a Fossombrone, dove per i suoi natali fu scritto subito a quella Nobiltà. Ebbe egli tre figli: Camillo, segretario del duca Francesco Maria d'Urbino; Federico I, anche egli segretario del duca d'Urbino che l'ebbe molto caro, elegante poeta e scrittore latino, e cultore di numismatica, grande amico del principe dei poeti
