AGUANNO | D'AGUANNO | D'AQUANNO | DAGUANNO

Aguanno is specific to Trapani, Calatafimi, Alcamo, Castelvetrano, Vita and Trapani, Daguanno, almost unique, it is probably due to errors in transcription of the surname D'Aguanno, which has a Sicilian stock in particular in Trapani in Trapani, Marsala, Mazara del Vallo, Castellammare del Golfo, Paceco and Palermo, and one from Lazio in Rome and in frusinate at Villa Santa Lucia, Cervaro, Cassino and Piedimonte San Germano, D'Aquanno, very rare, is specific to Rome and to frusinate, as well as Daquanno, decidedly Roman, while for the Sicilian lineage it should be an indicator of origin from a locality, Aguanno, in the Trapani area, now disappeared, for the Lazio stock it is more probable that they derive from the medieval name of Germanic origin Aquanus, which we find in this text reported from the year 1130: "... Magnus conatur sows the hatred in Canutum apud Nicolaum Regem; fingitque ab illo offensum Daniae Regem gueciae, nihil tamen profitability. Nicolaus Rex magnus filius Aquanus cognatus regis ... ", although it is not possible to exclude a toponymic derivation from the ancient name Aquana from the town of Civitaquana in Abruzzo.
