AIUTI | AIUTO | AJUTI

Aids and Ajutes, very rare, seem to originate from central Italy, perhaps from Pistoia, Aid, always very rare, it would seem from the Trapani area, they should derive from the apheresis of surnames like Diolaiuti or similar, it is also possible that they derive from the medieval good name Aiutus of which we have an example in 1200 in a writing of the Augustinian fathers: "... In Of the appointments Amen. Ex hoc public Instrument of the sit omnibus manifestum, quod frater Simon Prior Eremitarum Sancti Antonii de Ardinguesca, and frater Aiutus Prior Collae, Rustic Praesbyteri, Lucensis aka Livontij Dioecesis ... ". We find traces of these surnames in Sicily in 1300 with Vincenzo Ajuto, noble knight of the court of Federico III.
