ALBINIANO

Albinian, very rare, is specific of Molise and Campobasso in particular, derives from the Latin cognomen Albinianus of which we have an example in Lucius Sestius Quirinalis Albinianus proquestore of the most famous Marcus Iunius Brutus, it could also be hypothesized that Albinian should be understood as locus Albini thus indicating an Albinian locality of which traces would have been lost, near San'Agata dei Goti in Benevento, a similar toponym existed at least in 1100 because in a local script of 1120 we can read "... Rogerio filio Attardi de Albiniano ... ".
