ALITTA | ALITTI | ALITTO

Alitta, very very rare, would appear to be from western North Italy, with some presence in the Cosenza area, Alitti, practically unique, it would seem Tuscan, Alitto, absolutely rare, it would seem of Calabrian origin, of the Tyrrhenian coast in particular, the southern stocks should derive from the Greek name Alitta, one of the many variations of the name of the goddess Aphrodite (Venus), for the other northerners it would instead be the result of the Italianization of the French name Aliot, a diminutive form of the name Helias (Elia).
