ALIGHIERI | ALIGHIERO | ALLIGHI | ALLIGHIERI

Alighieri is absolutely rare, Alighiero, Allighi and Allighieri, almost disappeared, are Florentines. additions inserted by Andrea Ferreri - Milan Alighieri, Alighiero and Alligghieri, may have the name Alighiero (Allighiero) or Aldighiero, or Aldaghiero as their base. Presents scattered nuclei along the peninsula. In Romagna, Marche, Sicily and above all in Tuscany (Pisa and Florence, with a nucleus in Santa Croce sull'Arno, a few kilometers from the Florentine municipality of Fucecchio, home of the late Indro Montanelli) and Puglia (province of Brindisi, epicenter in the town) of Carovigno). Allighi perhaps derived from the contraction of the name Allighiero (Alighiero), or Aldighiero or Aldaghiero is very rare, present only in Florence and the province. Dante Alighieri The "Great Poet" Dante Alighieri was born in Florence between May 14th and June 13th 1265 (under the sign of Gemini). He died in Ravenna on September 14th 1321. He is the author of the "Divine Comedy", a masterpiece of literature of all times. Dante Alighieri is the firstborn male of a Florentine family of small nobility. The great-great-grandfather of Dante, a certain Cacciaguida, also born in Florence, left vast estates to the Alighieri family, which was probably descended from the Roman lineage of the Frangipane, already owners of the Colosseum. Cacciaguida marries, perhaps in Ravenna, Donna Aldaghiera (was Aldaghiero perhaps a name of Germanic origin?). The eldest son Aldaghiero (from the name of the important family to which his mother belonged) married a daughter of Bellincione Berti in Florence, with whom he begat Bellincione (from the name of his maternal grandfather). Bellincione, Sommo's grandfather, was very well known in Florence. Skilled successful merchant and landowner. His son, Dante's father, was called Alaghiero II (with the loss of -d because of the local pronunciation). Alaghiero married Gabriella Abati from whom he had During Alaghieri (which seems to be the real name of Dante Alighieri). The Alighieri variant (or Allighieri) is in fact stated only with Boccaccio. Dante married (at the age of 12, a marriage agreed upon by their respective families) the Florentine Gemma Donati with whom she had at least three children: Jacopo, Pietro and Antonia. Beatrice, the Florentine noblewoman loved by Dante, was called Bice Portinari, daughter of Folco Portinari, the Poet's contemporary and died in childbirth at the age of 25. Dante met her when he was 18 and fell madly in love with her. additions provided by Giovanni Vezzelli Alighieri comes from the Germanic name Aldiger (Förstemann, p. 59), composed from the root 'alda', ancient high German 'alt' = old + 'gairu', ancient high German 'gér' = spear.
