Alimonda, very rare indeed, would seem to be Ligurian, with a secondary stock in Cagliari, both Alimondi and Alimondo are almost unique, Alimonta is specific to the lower Trentino, Spiazzo, Pinzolo and Arco, Alimonti has a stock in the Bergamo area of Romano Di Lombardia, and it is typical of the area that includes Abruzzo Guardiagrele in Theatine, L'Aquila and Pescara and the Roman, Rome, Arsoli, Palombara Sabina and Tivoli, Almontie has presences in the Cuneo area and a stock in Gioia dei Marsi and Casalincontrada nell'aquilano, Almonti it has a small stock in the imperiese, one between Ascoli, Teramo and Pescara and one in the Roman region, all of which should derive from the medieval name Alimondo derived from the Norman Alemond, a variant of the more common Alemanno. A famous character was Cardinal Gaetano Alimonda born in Genoa in 1818 who became archbishop of Turin.
