BRANDALESE | BRANDALISE | BRANDOLESE | BRANDOLESIO | BRANDOLISI | BRANDOLISIO

Brandalese, very rare, has a lineage in Padua and one in Pavia, Brandalise is typical of the Belluno area, of Arsiè in particular, Brandolese is a typical surname of the Rovigoto, of Lendinara (RO) in particular, Brandolesi and Brandolesio are probably due to an error of transcription of the first and of Brandolisio which has a stock in Maniago (PN), one in Trieste and one in Venice and Mestre, derive from the late medieval name Brandalisius or Brandolisio a variant of Brando, of which we have an example in a deed of 1308: "... and of predictis omnibus et singulis preceptum fuit mihi Francisco Trossello notary ipsius d. marchionis unum intrumentum et plura fieri et refci, semel et pluries, ad consilium sapientes. Appointment predictorum vassallorum et nobilum sunt hec .. .. Henricus Thalomeus et Brandalisius de Cochonato fratres ... ", these surnames are found in Padua since the second half of the 1700s with a bookseller and editor called Pietro Brandolese. additions provided by Giovanni Vezzelli Secondo Olivieri 158 Brandalise derives from the Germanic personal Brando, Förstemann 234.
