BURCHI | BURCHIO

Burchi is typical of the Emilian area, of the Modena area in particular, and of Tuscany, in the Florentine and in the Pisan areas, Burchio, extremely rare, difficult to identify the area of origin, could derive from the medieval term burchio (boat used for river transport and Adriatic below the coast, in this case, normally equipped with two trees), perhaps to indicate that the forefather worked precisely on a burchio.
