CAMPIGLIA

Campiglia has a stock in Rome and one in Sala Consilina in Salerno, they should derive from a place name. (see CHAMPIONS). Campili has a stock in Terni and one in Rome, Campilia, very very rare, it would seem typical of the Macerata area, of Pollenza in the Macerata area in particular, Campilli is specific to Rome, these surnames should derive from place names, in medieval times with the term campilia defined themselves as lands used for various cultivations, administered by a community of citizens and whose fruits were distributed among the various inhabitants of the country, traces of a principle of these surnames we find for example in the Pisan in a writing of 1332: ". ..Ser Cecchinus de Campilia, Mactheus Scarsus, Pasquinus de Casciana, M. M. Ser Bacciameus Tadi, Gorus Savini, Bartalus de Ripuli ... ".
