Both typical of southern Calabria, traces of these surnames can be found in Gerocarne (VV) since the 13th century, in a text from 1265 we read: "... Fazari and Fazzari should, in fact, be surnames born within the Greek dialects of the South, as often happens precisely in the Reggio area: it would then be the surname of trade names attributed to the founders.
