FADIN | FADINI | FADINO

Fadin, very very rare, seems to be from Padua, Fadini has a Lombard lineage especially in the provinces of Mantua, Cremona, Brescia and Bergamo, with maximum concentration in the nearby Verona area, and an almost unique lineage in the Udine area, Fadino, is probably due to errors in transcription of the previous ones, they should derive from hypocoristic forms of the dialectal term fada (fata), which also gave rise to the name Fadino of which we have an example in a sale deed of 1352 in Bergamo the buyer is a certain Giovanni was Fadino de Molonio of Borgo Santo Stefano, but could also derive from the apheresis of names like Bonfadinus, an altered form of Bonfantinus (see BONFADINI).
