FIRMA | FIRMI | FIRMO

Firma is almost unique, Firmi, absolutely rare, it would seem to have two distribution areas, the south of Lombardy and Lazio, Firmo is specific to the Brescia area of Brescia, Gussago and Cellatica, they should derive from the Italian medieval name Firmo, an older variant of Fermo, of which we have an example in a deed drawn up in Trent in 1517: "Year 1517, fifth index, Saturdays 4 aprilis in civitate Tridenti, in contrata Portellae, in domo habitationis infrascripti domini emptoris. Praesentibus Firmo quondam Dominici Batayae Vallis Boni dweller in civitate Tridenti, Bernardino fornaserio quondam Iohannis Negreli de Cadeno, hiis duobus testibus ... ".
