GENTINA | GENTINETTA

Gentina seems specific to the Varese area, Gentinetta, absolutely rare, it would seem Piedmontese, should be matronymic forms deriving from a progenitor named Gentina, medieval form of the name Franco Gentiane (Gentian), we find traces of this name in the birth certificate dated 1551 first Count Provana of Collegno who appears to have been the son of Gerolamo Provana of Carignano (Lord of Bussolino and of Gorra), and of Gentina Provana of Druent. integration provided by Maria Teresa Ghione apparently comes from Bognanco (NO); not very common in Italy, much more in Switzerland. On the heraldic volume Anstalt Antonio Bonacina appears the emblem: red-white-red with two stylized lions.
