LAURIOLA

Lauriola is specific of the Foggia area, widespread in Manfredonia, Foggia and Monte Sant'Angelo, but also very present in San Giovanni Rotondo and Apricena, it could be a matronymic and derive from a progenitor named Lauriola, a late Latin name widely used in the era medieval, derived from a dialectal alteration of the Latin cognomen Laureola, but it is also possible that it may derive from a place name such as the Lauria potentina or others.
