LOVATI | LOVATO

Lovati is definitely the Milanese, Lovato is typical of the Veneto region, from the provinces of Verona, Vicenza and Padua, they derive from the Latin cognomen Lupus through the medieval name Lupatus and then Lupato then Lovato. There are traces already from 1300, where we find, in Padua, a Lovato de 'Lovati (1240-1309) writer and poet, in the Milanese in the second half of the 1500 listed among the Milanese patricians we find Giovanni Battista Lovati.
