Necchi is typical of the area between Pavia and Milan, Necco would seem typically Piedmontese, but with a stock also in Campania, they should derive from the late medieval name Nechus, probably derived from a Latin nequus (unjust), in some cases they could descend, by apheresis, from a dialectal nickname linked to the Milanese word archaic gnecch (listless).
