NOCE | NOCI

Noce is not common, it has strains scattered in the central south, in Lazio, in Campania, in Calabria and in Sicily, and perhaps one in the Genoese, Noci has a strain in the Florentine and one in the Brescia area, they could derive from locality indicators linked to the presence of walnut trees, as is testified for example in this Longobard script of 768: "... on the spot Sexto part mea de res in loco Pinistello et to Arno uui uocamus ad Noce ...", a principle of this surname can be find in Brescia in 1252 with a certain Piardo della Noce delegated to represent the Municipality at the Bishopric.
