Picchierri is typical of Sava (TA), Picherri is almost unique, Pichierri, the most widespread, is typical of the Taranto, Brindisi and Sava areas in particular, and of Manduria in the Taranto area, and of Torre Santa Susanna in Brindisi. additions provided by Stefano Ferrazzi of origin arbëreshë, according to some these surnames derive from the Albanian toponymy and, more precisely, from the city of Piqerras (also known as Piqeras, Piqernas, Bicerni, etc), which is located in the Vlorë prefecture, along the south-west coast of Albania: for information, it should be noted that Vlora (Vlorë in mother tongue) is the Albanian prefecture closest to Italy, in this case to the Salento coast (the surnames in question, in fact, are typical of the so-called Albania Tarantina).
