Typical of southeast Sicily, Prestapino, almost unique, is of Catania and is probably due to an error of transcription of Prestipino that is specific to the Messina and Alto Catania, Prestopino is specific to the Messina, should derive from the term Medieval Prestre (see Preste) connected to the apheresis of the diminutive of the name Giuseppe would indicate the family of a priest named Joseph, Pino for Apheresis Dell'ipocoristico.
