Prinelli, very rare, it is specific of South Milan, Prini has strains in Verbanese, Milanese and Pavese, Genovese and Modena, Prino is typically Piedmontese, should derive, directly or through hypochoristic, nicknames, then become names, Originated from the name of an arboreal essence, a type of oak: "... Here ait, Sub Prino quam Latini lentiscum vocant: East Autem Arbor, Cujus succus foliorum scissuras labiorum vel manuum solidat: unde Hieronymus: Schinus est arbor, quam ilicem vocant. Prinus vero est arbor, Quam lentiscum vocant.... ", but could in some cases derive from names of localities such as this cited in an act of 1585 taken from the state Archives of Milan:"... Item Tertia Pars Pro undivided Petie Terre campi site ut supra ubi dicitur in Prino, Cui Coheret... ".
