Vercese is practically unique, Vercesi is specific to the area of Milan and Pavese, with significant appearances also in the Piacenza and Genovese, unlikely a derivation from the name of the locality of Vercesio in Savona or Verceia in the Sondriese, could derive, Through modifications, from the Latin word Quercus (oak) indicating families who lived near Querceti. Additions provided by Gianpaolo Vercesi Vercesi should derive from the ancient Versesi, that is the valley of the Versa (small tributary of the River PO). The majority of the Vercesi in fact is located in the municipality of Montù Beccaria (PV) and neighbouring just where flows the river Versa.
