VICHI | VICO

Vichi seems typical of the area that includes the Romagna, the northern Marches and Tuscany, Vico seems to have an important nucleus between Turin Cuneo and Savona, one in the Anconetano and one in the Cosentino, some could derive from the many toponyms containing the Vico Root (village), many others should derive from the medieval name Vicus in turn derived from the apheresis of names such as Ludovicus or Ollovicus. Famous character was the Neapolitan philosopher and historian Gian Battista Vico (1668-1744). (See De Vico)
