Violante is typical of southern Italy, Violanti, much rarer, it would seem latium, derive from the medieval name Violante, traces of this cognitive we find them in Solofra (AV) in 1500: "... Onlyfra Steano very rich of passes 12,000 Ducati as it was mag. Geronimo de Violante, MBE Berardino de Violante et other very rich citatidini... ". Additions provided by Giovanni Vezzelli Violante is the surname Calabrese and Neapolitan. Cf. Violand surname in France, Violant in Catalonia. Rohlfs 275.
