ZANCANARI | ZANCANARO

Zancanari, practically unique, should be due to a mistaken transcription of Zancanaro, which is decidedly Veneto, Venice and Martellago in the Venetian, Arsiè and Feltre in Bellunese, Verona and San Pietro in Cariano in Verona, Padua and Vigonza in Padovano, of Paderno del Grappa, Villorba and Preganziol in Trevisano and Rovigo, and that should derive either from the term Veneto Zanca (parts of iron used reinforced with doors and windows), perhaps to identify in the ancestor of the craftsmen of iron, or even from Always Veneto Zanco (left-handed), or clamps (stilts), in the latter case it may mean that the ancestor were used to use stilts, perhaps at the time of high water. Additions provided by Giovanni Vezzelli Zancanaro is Veneto's surname meaning ' lefty '. Olivieri 234
