Very old family who adopted their coat of arms before the 13th century. Changes in the 13th and 14th centuries were frequent. The elders of this house forced their younger siblings to add the break (that is to say a piece or piece of furniture) to the full arms of the common author to distinguish the various branches coming from the same stump. As the coat of arms developed, the name of this house began to be adopted by its descendants, but the inheritance in this name was not absolute until the end of the 13th century. Among the most famous characters we notice Richard, living in 1481, married Adeline Henry. The elder branch melted around 1500 in the Forestier. It would be superfluous to recall here all that has been written on the coat of arms, on the nobility and on the origin of the name of this family. We could not do better than to indicate to you the introduction of Pol Potier de Coursy at the head of his work "Nobiliary and Armorial of Brittany", which had the approval of all the competent persons in this matter. The family distinction represented here in the form of a coat of arms, survives through the centuries thanks to precious testimonies which have enabled us to report the exploits and actions of this noble family.
