The surname Lambrick is of English, French and German origin. It is derived from the Germanic personal name composed of the elements 'lam', land, territory and 'berht', bright, famous. A native Old English name 'Landbeorht' is attested, and seems to have survived the Norman Conquest, when it was massively reinforced by the Continental form imported by the Normans from France. However 'Landbeorht' was by no means a common name among the Anglo-Saxons. In Italy the name was popular in the Middle Ages as a result of the fame of Lambert I and II, Dukes of Spoleto and Holy Roman Emperors. The name dates back to the tenth century were a Gozelinus filius Lamberti is recorded in historical archives. This surname was brought to America predominately by English immigrants. One of the first fore fathers to bring this name to America is that of a George Lambert, a cordwainer by trade, who emigrated to America aboard the Elizabeth; he settled in Virginia. This name is the two-hundredth and forty-ninth most common surname in America.
